It’s a shame there isn’t an affordable and thoroughly reliable overdrive. I almost bought a 90 that had a GKN overdrive (the one that’s switched on the gear knob). If it was more reliable with speed sensor spares available, that would be my...
I have an overdrive in my TD5, it is excellent on the motorway, dual carriage way, fast A-roads. Or you can leave it engaged all the time if you like, or a half gear if you want. I just use it as an extra gear, 6th gear if you like.
Son has 1.2...
I actually preferred the overdrive route in my mind( best of all worlds) but our local chap recommended the 1.2 for my use and for reliability. (With remap).
Hello. I’m wiring up heated seats (aftermarket Mazda RX8 fitted by a PO). I’m using OE dash switches and am using relays. I have 2 questions that I keep going round in circles over.
1. Do I need a fuse between output pin 87 before accessory in...
Hi there, yes, a manual. I was debating an overdrive, long 5th gear or 1.2 box. For my use (lightweight, more cruising than anything, very little towing and nowhere near capacity) I was recommended the transfer box change and unless towing 1.5...
Yeah, good option. Is the gear set the only difference, or are there different flanges / fixings etc? Of course this route would leave me with the 1.4 to either keep for the future if need be, or sell on. Thanks for reply 👍
Thanks for the reply, it's something i might consider down the line, but I'll be honest, at the moment I'll be trusting this kind of work to others. Just waiting to hear back from Ashcrofts on the way forward - I have the defender booked in to...
Ashcroft have since replied to my email again and it seems they can do it afterall, so that's great :) 👍
I won't be towing any sort of serious weight, if anything at all. I'll be mainly A and B roads, no green laning etc. I am having a...
I thought about that, but i had budgeted for a recon one and would feel silly if the 2nd hand one proved to be below par. I'm certainly not qualified to check it before fitting. In time I could probably change it myself, but currently it's not...
Hi there,
Loads of info already on here and i have decided to fit the 1.2 transfer box (recommended by the well regarded specialist near me). I was going to use Ashcroft for an exchange unit. However, their exchange unit policy is exactly like...
I have said it before and I will say it again the best modification I ever did to my 110 was to fit wiper mounted spray bars. originally from a 405 out the scrap yard but now from here (LINK). Becasue they are about 10mm form the screen pressure...
I’ll be doing this on mine when I grow a pair. If you you tube ‘doctors garage rear glass’ he has posted a short video of how he did his. Sorry, I don’t know how to add a link. He is a self proclaimed novice (he’s actually a cosmetic surgeon) but...
Bit of a diversion. Fitted the csi ultimate front washer today. Wow, what a disappointment, but could be pump not up to it. I had a reasonable “flow” from the old one (original / OEM) but was the usual below par experience. The new (very...
Thanks. I’m pretty sure mine aren’t standard. The spare on the back is white painted steel (205/80/R16) and I think that might be standard for a basic hardtop? The previous owner fitted the 17’s and Coopers.
Here are the std spring colours and part numbers. It does look like your tratter is sitting lower at the back. To be absolutely certain change springs for correct colour/length and be done. Don't be tempted to go for HD springs, you'll just be...
