My 2.4 Puma has developed a bit of a weird power loss at low revs.
Normally it will trundle along nicely at tick over in 2nd or 3rd gear but, on Sunday it started dying as if it didn't have the torque to keep going. When reversing up the drive I needed about 2000rpm to movce where it normally goes on tick over.
10 minutes later all was fine again then yesterday morning it was showing similar symptoms.

I have connected the ATRIC fault code reader that I got from Alive tuning and it shows a fault code U3F01 P2940 which I can't find any info about.

Anyone had anything similar or know about the code?

Don't think they are land rover's codes. Can you get a code list from the place you got your reader? If you are trundling along all the time you might try a DPF regeneration cycle. And check EGR which might be duff.

Cheers for the reply @Wimblowdrive, good point on contacting Alive who I bought the reader from, I will drop them an email. I have also bought the Unlock code for the nanocom today so should be able to connect that tomorrow and see what that throws up. Interestingly I reset the faults today and went out again which threw up a different code, P0028 which seems to point at "Intake Valve Control Solenoid".
I have the EGR blanked and removed in the map so pretty sure I can discount EGR problems. Strangely the problem only occurs once it's warm ??

Well I emailed Alive Tuning last night and after an email reply today Sturt from Alive gave me a call to offer some free advice. It sounds as though the fault codes that I saw are totally unrelated as they relate to things that aren't on a Defender. Next stop is looking at parts of the wiring loom around the Turbo as advised and see how that goes. One other thing that I've read about is failing VCV / metering valve on the fuel pump. It's a cheap part so i'm ordering one anyway but need LR diagnostic or Faultmate to do a 're learn' after fitting.

Anyone in Lancs with Faultmate by any chance?
If that doesn't solve it, it will be trip to Alive I think for rolling road diagnostic

As far as I know, you have anti stall technology where the ecu increases fuelling to prevent stalling, if it's dying without any throttling from you then I would say the fault is with the anti stall function

A possibility although I've read contradicting info and believe the anti still only works in low box and maybe even only low 1st and second.
Typically with intermittent faults it's bloody difficult to diagnose

If it was my vehicle I'd get it checked with land rover software based diagnostics, either nanocom (which is what I have) or (cringe) main dealer, rather than spending on a rolling road. If the rolling road shows a fuelling fault, what are you going to adjust or alter? But first I'd be looking for loose wires and plugs at all the sensor positions on the fuel and air intake system. Might be as simple as a loose wire? Or overdue for a fuel filter change (like mine is, its on the jobs to do list). Proper diagnostics should nail the cause whatever it is.

The idea of going back to Alive was to use their diagnostic equipment whilst on the rolling road because of it being an intermittent problem, it can be driven in the filling road whilst being monitored. Hopefully I will get the Nanocom code today and see if it shows any faults.

Well I've changed the VCV, another job where I wish I had child sized hands but it's done and had a 'teach' done so for a small price. So far so good, only 30 ish miles done yesterday but no issues. Fingers crossed the problem may be solved.

No worries mate I just saw your post and thought I could help out if needed im also an alive tuning mobile dealer. Fingers crossed you have managed to sort it out.

I'm based in bingley West Yorkshire so not a million miles away from you just a small jump up the motor way. And I am a mobile agent

Now 1000 miles on from installing the VCV/VCU and all seems ok. All in it probably cost about £100 which is what LR wanted just to "asses it". Money saved and some good experience too winner winner.
