after taking thr head off my freelander the wet liners have moved when i turn the crank to time it up

what should i do
please help

thanks david

ooooo ****.

general concensus is that they can only be refitted in position by a professional engine builder. Dont believe you can "Top hat" them like the rangiie engine,

I think yu just fooked yo engine. best to look for another:(

been told by rover that you can seal them back in

with some blue sealer they say when the head is back on they should not move and they wil seal
david

good luck. Their position is absolutely critical to the working of the head gasket. I think they have to sit proud by .001". Dont forget you will have no reference marks to re-align the liners back to their original position:(.

STOP right there carislefreelander, you trying to tell us you have done 15 hgf and you didnt know about the golden rule in the k-series. Maybe this explains why some repair jobs are failing

NEVER turn the crank with the head off.

Do you even have a Haynes? it even stresses the above point, explains the whole timing issues, especially in a twin cam engine

You have to tap them out and reseat, full engine out job

carlislefreelander - I think you'll be adopting one of these two procedures in the near future, 1st pic courtesy of G13SJC

Yes I use a good Swarf and moisturiser ;), latex gloves are the future

That cross member I am pointing to, needs to be bolted/secured to the two car jacks on the engine cradle.

Otherwise the engine will topple off, its also front heavy and leans forward, notice the oil filter housing being supported, that stops her tipping.

Door wires??? you have lost me, window cables are the only FL1 fault dont you know :p
