What tyres do you have on your freelander

goodyear wranglers all round on mine and they have just gone up in price £108 each

Insa turbo ranger 205/70 15's. They sing a bit, but not let me down yet. Done about 10,000miles so far. Cost £360 for set of five.

I've currently got 17" alloys but would like to downsize but that's a whole other thread!

Only done a few hundred miles on them! They whine like a bitch but are surprisingly good on road and excellent off road

I'm very happy to have 17" alloys, I have 8 of them.

I'm running 235/55 17 Continentals - the biggest tyres you can fit without spacers.

Over the years I've tried several 'all-season' and 'all-purpose' tyres, and they are a compromise up with which I will not put.

I need knobbly tyres for the Winter and off-road, plus a 2nd set for long distance Summer road work.

After a long road journey with A/T tyres my ears are ringing and I've scrubbed off a millimetre for no purpose.
Once took the family on holiday to the South of France - on knobbly jobs - never again!

I've just fitted some new ContiSport2s for the summer - totally quiet -and the cornering ability (wet or dry) is on another level, and as for braking in the wet ......

Yes - they are expensive - but when you cover the miles that I do, what price for safety, and comfort?

Just shod mine in Wrangler HP's all round Teddy, £360 total. Went to ATS, they wanted £140 a corner, the buggers!!

I have put khumo road venture at . Quit happy good at cleaning them selfs . Been in muddy fields not put them in any green lanes .

thats cheap I use a local tyre dealer I can not remeber what the missus has on her freelander but goodyear make them

Same as, I use a local tyre fitter too, recommended through a friend. Always pays to shop around

I'm really torn in so many directions with what tyre's to stick on mine. If I'm brutally honest with myself my inner child wants AT tyre's because they look badass, but I'm thinking they really aren't suited to the type of driving I do. It's all roads at the moment and medium journeys (under 150mi round trips.)

I think I should go for a good road tyre such as the Scorpion STR for now, then maybe treat myself to a full set of steel wheels with AT's for fun dirt days and winter. Would you guys say that's a reasonable course of action?

I think the choice of tyre is subjective Will. I was going to buy the STR's for mine, but was put off by the cost compared to the Wranglers I eventually bought. The Goodyears seem fine, but it's early days. The Grabber UHP's were another option, but I stuck with the wranglers.

I'm liking the price of Conti CrossContact AT's but I have read that they wear very quickly. It's a total SOB trying to research tyres! Camskill seem to consistently have the best unfitted prices and the best choice. Ideally I want 5 tyres and don't want to pay over £500 for them - if I can get quality tyres that will last for 30k plus for less than that then I'd be very happy.

I will be going to formula 1 auto center. I dont know if there is one near you but they have a price beat guarentee. Find a tyre cheaper and they refund you +5% i seem to remember. Always the cheapest for me anyways.

Yes I was going to go there too, they had the STR for a while but now it seems to be gone from their webby? Was the £85 before or after price beating?

before price beat. That was on there website though then they take them to your store

Has anyone used Yokohama Advan ST ?

I've got a TD4 Sport with 18" wheels, anything is going to be expensive I know so an informed choice is better than going in blind!

I now put on the size 215 70 R16. So the tire is a little higher than the 215 65 R16 Michelins I had.

Used them today for about 100km. So it is to early to make a full report.

They don't make more noise than the Michelin Synchrone or the Michelin Latitude Alpin.

Didn't use them yet off road, but some fellow members of the Freelander Club Belgium have them and used them off road. No complaints.

I now have about 5.000km with the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S most on tarmac but surely some greenlaning and ....... the campsite at C4H pulling out my 1600kg caravan.

The tires are great. No problems, no extra noise and good handling. I'm pleased with them.

I've decided to stick to my current alloys, no point in buying modulars and BFG AT's until I know I like off roading and it's worth the money.

So for now I'm thinking of getting a good AT tyre to let me go as far as I can with the stock car. How do General Grabber AT2's meaure up? It'll be them or the Conti's I think. The AT2's seem to have a very good rating online, the conti's wear quickly apprently. Hmm.

After much experimentation I have settled for Kumho Ecstas on the front and Dunlop SPs on the back.....Luvly!
