Hi people,
I posted on 14th apr about my drive shaft...
Drive shaft had popped out of transmission
Today, I dropped wishbone on jack, took out the 3 bearings, cleaned them up regreased them and popped drive shaft back in, tightened everything up and its fine now.
The previous owner had simply zip tied the boot back on, it came off, grit got in and clogged the bearings stopping them spinning, went round corner and bang it popped out.
Any who, my question is, what holds the drive shaft in? The length of give from the strut I don't think will give enough to enable it to come all the way out. But paranoid now about it coming back out, I can't see anywhere a retaking clip or o ring would go, so is there supposed to be one on the end of the shaft or does it just stay in ?
Hope that makes sense, I would of took photos but forgot phone!
Thanks

The driveshaft has circlips at either end to keep it in place. The drive shaft is grooved where it goes into the g'box. You use a square section circlip and when the assembly is in place that circlip expands to a retaining groove and holds it in place. TDL100240 could be the part number.

Circlips - Vin to YA 999999

TDL100190 [goes into g'box]

Vin from 1A 000001
TDL000020

The outer circlip that goes into the hub assembly is: TDL100240. You can get it as part of the kit when replacing the CV gator.

There shouldn't be any where near enough slack in a drive shaft for it to pop out. I have to question weather the correct shaft is fitted?

I agree with nodge. It just shouldn't be able to happen. So it's either the wrong part or something's broken.

Once bolted back in place I can see what you mean there's nowhere near enough play, I don't know if im been clear, it was more like the bearing had come off than the shaft itself physically coming out of the transmission hub. But it wasnt driving that side of the vehicle
