all i do is remove the two 10mm bolts from the back and pull it down so i can see drain plug, wi a long extention to remove it the tray makes a great funnel to drain oil into a bucket!!!

just remember to wash the old oil foo after:p

fantastic thanks for the help and pics now i can go and do a oil change with a little less swearing . cheers

Hopefully you have a pre 04, the 04 on front bolts are less accessible. If you have a TD4 cut a hole to get to the drain plug. With petrol you need to access the filter.

thanks northen irelander i will go with the modification this is the way it should have been done in the first place cheers.

If your feeling adventurous, before you refit the umpteen different size bolts, you might want to search

'undertray, modified'

Modifying it isn't only adventurous, it's essential. Two bolts at the rear & two at the front now releases the whole plastic undertray on mine leaving the frame in place.
