Hi all I'm new to this forum

I have a freelander td4 2003 and last week ended up being towed to a garage and they have saud it's the timing chain snapped there for ruined m y engine!

Is it worth replacing the engine? If so what is the approx cost? Or would I be better off just getting a new car? Would my car be worth anything sold for parts?
Thanks in advance :)

not heard of a timing chain on the td4 snapping but that does not say they don't if it has then it is going to be very costly probably holed pistons and bent valves spring to mind so probably would be worth looking for another td4 there has been some on ebay but make sure they are working ok with some sort of guarantee .

If the rest of the car and body is on good nick, then pick up another engine on ebay, there are a few TD4's for sale.

During the many years I've been Freelandering only a few Td4's have snapped chains. Owners sometimes ask about noisy chains. That's rare too.

possibly worth getting a replacement engine i paid £500 the other year when my crank shaft snapped,
you can salvage your injectors (£50 each), hp fuel pump( £100), and a few other items
