Thinking about buying a Freelander

Have 10K max to spend so probably looking at a 2007 model with about 70K miles.

It seems the most popular spec is the GS however I have also seen so SE models and was wondering what spec they are as Parkers only mentions the XS.

What sort of things should I look out for

Check for power steering noises, rear diff noise and then just normal stuff you'd check on any car - both keys work, windows, tailgate handle etc.

Well I have had a look on Parkers and as yet not seen a model that had dual tax bands

The emissions on the Freelander 2 TD4 are less than the Freelander 1 Td4 auto, and are cheaper....

I have a 2008 xs
It's been a lovely car and very capable off road
I keep looking at defenders, but just can't part with my fl2
So nice to drive

What do you think about this car, they have offered a good part ex against my 1 series BMW so would only need to find £1k to change

Sorry to jump in on this but didn't want to clog up the forum by starting a new post on this topic.

I'm currently looking at replacing my Freelander 1 with a 2 and have seen a nice TD4 manual HSE for £7k with a full LR service history.

However, its on 140k miles. Not being the most mechanically minded, am I stupid to look at something with this many miles or is that not an issue on this engine given its full history?

Well the one from quicks fell thro, turned out the transfer box was buggered so they would not sell it.

One of the reasons for looking at that one was the excellent part ex

Never mind started looking again today. I only want to spend max £2k over the part ex price and these would come it at that:

This one is looking favourit. Its an 08 model with 6 months RAC Warranty and I would only need to give £1500 plus my car:

I think the first one is the better buy, what do you think?

If I want SE or XS they are either more money or much higher mileage

It looks like someone is trying to tell me something, just had the garage on and they have just taken a similar car to mine as part ex so they don't want mine now
