I just bought a second hand remote stat and pipes from a newer Freelander ...found it on e bay for just over £30 ..alls well :)

Hi Tony, I bought one of these and recently fitted it. Mine included all hoses attached to it. PM me if you want any details.

It takes the place of both the top and bottom radiator hoses. The pipe under the distributor is a trick to get the hose clamp on, so is the bottom rad' hose!

If you do fit one of these remember to take out the standard thermostat. I cut the centre bit out and refitted the flat disc now with a 25mm whole in it back into the original housing.

when replacing the remote thermostat, can the new thermostat alone be fitted in the exisiting remote housing or do you have to buy the thermostat and housing as a complete unit?

Cheers
Simon

thanks for that - here's my next puzzle: is there any reason for having a thermo in the original position at the water pump and a remote thermo - i.e two thermos, as that is what I found in my engine:confused:

Cheers
Simon

Thermostat positioned near the water pump must be eliminated, remains only thermostat PRT

thought so - pleasing to have it confirmed though, as I already took the core out of the old thermo and refitted the plate & seal in the old thermo housing so now it just has the remote thermo ;)

Cheers
Simon
