Hi, Can anyone help.Yesterday i drove round for about an hour yesterday, after dropping a mate off i went back to car and it would not start!! engine turned over but would not fire up.After awhile battery went flat so put mates jump booster on,still would not start flattened booster.gave car a push and it bump started right away engine ran sound plenty of power.got home parked up and turned off, went to start car about an hour later same problem would not start on key but starts first time on bump start even with dead flat battery.
I am wondering if it may be the camshaft sensor failing, its a freelander td4 on 52plate 49,000 genuine miles on clock never had any faults in over two years apart from flat battery now and again due to lack of use(in & out of hospital) always ran like a dream, roverron synergy 2 fitted 12 months ago and egr valve mod done i.e blanked off.

anyone have any ideas whats wrong.

Cheers Paul.:(

would be looking at either faulty camshaft position sensor or faulty injector. More likely to be camshaft sensor as they tend to fail causing intermittent starting such as you are experiencing. if one of the injectors fails, it tends to prevent it starting altogether.

good luck

sounds like cam shaft sensor or injector to me. As it started literally straight away when trying to bump it then I would say cam sensor. If it took a while when bumping then I would say injector.

Does it start when cold, if not then 90% sure it will be a injector leaking back. Do a search on her for the test. The reason it will start with a bump is the cranking pressure is far lower than the running pressure and the leaking injector prevents the pressure sensor to fire the engine
