I finished servicing my TD4 auto today.

I then took it out for a run. It felt good.

But, then I entered a 60mph national speed zone. Put foot down in lower gear using steptronic and it wouldn't rev over around 3000rpm and was making a whistling sound.

No lights on dash. Weird. I have just fitted a new fuel filter 3 miles previously and a new low pressure pump about 4000 miles ago.

From the Scangauge I could tell that the turbo seemed to have plenty of boost.

So I stopped in a safe place and blipped the throttle under no load and it wouldn't go over around 3000rpm either, but was a little erratic. So I popped open the bonnet and had a look around.

Noticed that where I have fitted a breather extension to the turbo vent filter, so I can wade a little deeper than normal, there was a kink in the tube. So I straightened out the kink.
I then blipped the throttle. This time went all the way round to the red line.

So moral of the story is that the turbo NEEDS to vent, and if the vent filter is blocked you a WILL have problems.
