hi baldeagle. i had a problem with loss of power on my 53 plate td4. i replaced the intercooler air sensor, and it has been good for 3 months now, i think the oil that gets blown along the intercooler pipe causes a fault on the sensor. it is the second one i have replced in 2 years and at £35.00 it is worth a try. the symptoms are no power after 2500 rpm and worse when cold or on a cold day. i am sure there is a underlying problem causing the excess oil in the pipes but its a quick fix. i have cleaned the sensor once but it does not last. hope this is of some help. cheers graham

Has the small engine breather filter already been replaced ??

Hi all, just replaced the Bosch MAF with Pierberg 7.22684.09.0, but the TD4 is now "flat" up to 2,000rpm, then takes off like a Banshee.... I'm not keen on this flat-spot, preferred the instant grunt of the old MAF, have I gone wrong? Do i need to do anything else? Incidentally, I've previously fitted an EGR blanking kit, replaced the air filter for a K&N, and changed the crank oil filter for the BMW type seperator, and replaced the fuel filter, any advice welcome, thanks....

Fit a Synergy 2A?

I've just bought one inc Pierberg, arrived today so not fitted yet, but I think the Pierberg MAF needs it to work properly?

Clive

As far as I am aware the Synergy 2a has the ability to allow for the different spec of the Pierburg MAF.

So fitting a Pierburg MAF on it's own will not give satisfactory results, as you have found out.

Solution: get a Synergy box! Assuming you have the compatible Pierburg.

There are loads of different Pierburgs - none of which I believe are a direct stand-alone replacement for the Bosch in a BMW M47R.

Hi guys,
I'm having the same trouble on my 2005 td4 diesel auto. when i accelerate I get a sudden loss of power that lasts for up to a second.
The more I try and accelerate through it, the worse it gets. It will start to kangaroo if I keep my foot on the accelerator!
Parts I have changed: Fuel pump, crankcase breather filter, MAFM, Air filter, Turbo vent inline filter and I have cleaned the EGR none of this has helped
I will order an air temp sensor as it has quite a bit of gunk on it, but after that I don't know what else to do!!
Does anybody know why the air temp sensor and intercooler hose its connected to would have excess gunk/oil/carbon on it??
