Hi I tried amongst other jobs this morning I tried to remove the expansion tank/bottle to renew it on my 56plate td4, the plastic screw that holds it in place is just turning not loosening if I force it ! what type of screw could I replace it with??

what does it screw into ? is it into a plastic fitting/ metal clip ?

Thanks for your help.

Dave

Drill straight through the plastic screw with a 3mm drill bit. You will be left with a "wall plug" type thing which will pull out when you lift up the reservoir. This can be reused when you put it all back. Use a normal wood screw which will happily go into the wall plug thing. That's what I does.

i replaced mine a few weeks back

couldn't figure out that screw thing ..
ended up cutting in out ..
got a new screw of the same type ..
couldn't get the new screw to fit in at all ..
after much swearing i ended up using three small cable ties pulled very tight .. worked fine ..

but ..

Hippo's idea sounds better :)

Isn't it a wotsit. Centre piece comes up to release the whole thing then pushes back in to secure it.
Same sort of thing for securing wheel arch covers, etc etc

It's a plastic screw in a wall plug type thing. The wings things are similar as you say, they have a push in middle.
