TD4 Engine constantly cutting out

*UPDATE*

Cleaning the fuel sensor completely fixed the issue of poor idle, cutting out and lumpy driving. Thank you for the tip.

Only issue now is it is still down on power in low revs. Would this be an issue with the EGR valve? It isn't a major issue, but it still needs fixing.

Thanks

Would this be an issue with the EGR valve?

whether it's the egr valve .. or not ..
your still better off replacing the egr valve with an 'egr bypass unit' ..
the engine will breathe better .. and there's no egr valve to gunk up 'n stick
( and it's ok for the current m.o.t. )
mpg should also improve .. as will power at lower revs ..

Thanks for the info. I am going to clean it out at the weekend to do over xmas then replace it in the new year.

Disconnect the MAF and drive the car. If it improves then you need a new MAF. Disconnecting the MAF forces the ECU to use a default setting.

I mentioned this a few posts back. Already replaced. :)

It's been on-going for some time now I'd forgotten!!

Doesn't hurt to check it though..... won't cost you anything. It's not unheard of to have duff new MAF...... Now you have sorted everything else.

My Td4 is dangerously sluggish when cold the first time it is started in the mornings. I've been wondering if it is a MAF issue.

I'll give it a go tomorrow when I'm sorting the valve out.

Check the vacuum hoses from the boost pressure solenoid.
They can collapse, especially the one in the protective sleeve on top of the engine.
If they need replacing use braided hose.

Cleaned the egr valve out. The EGR clamp jubilee clip seems to have broken. It twists when it is tightened and exhaust fumes leak from the connection. Is it just the jubilee clip that holds the egr to the exhaust gas pipe or is there a washer or something that goes between them?

Thanks
