Hi, or is it help. I've got a 2004 TD4 which is really clattery and lumpy when you first strike it up, it's off a cylinder and smokes a fair bit but when you get to 1500 rpm it smooths out but still not 100% and it gets better as it warms up but it's still lumpy and missing when on tick over. Also when you're cruising it dies slightly and holds back but when you give it some throttle it picks up again. The diagnostics have thrown up P1613 which is knock sensor which as we all know covers a multitude of sins. I'm thinking either injector or fuel pump so any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance Neil

Hi

If the fuel pump is on its way out, which is possible, you would normally hit a wall at about 3000rpm and lower and the EML light comes on. Then goes out when you back off.

Sounds more like injectors to me.

Many thanks Epicuser as that's what I was thinking / hoping it would be. I'll get them checked out.

i had similar starting problems and used diesel rhino after seeing recommendations on here and it has completely cured the bad starting and runs a lot better and more economical too at £25 delivered its worth a try cheaper and easier than new injectors.

Doesn't help when the injectors are duff though....... Like they were in mine.

My FL had all the symptom's of a duff injector, bad starting lack power smokey on start up but after using diesel rhino it now runs like a dream I think it's worth a try before the more expensive options.

I'm not saying it will always work but for the price it cost to try it will save a lot of money rather than getting the injectors changed IF it does work and will still clean out the rest of the fuel system.

and keep it clean if you keep using it. and prevent diesel bug and, and , and etc....
