Sounds like a misfire coil/spark plug? or wiring to coil.

Took it back to the auto electrician n told him to put it back to the way it was. It now drives normal again an no misfire but with the bypass removed its blowing fuses again. He told me the main multi functional relay box is the cause so it needs replacing. I replaced this today with the one from my other hippo which i know to be working and it still blew the fuse. The unit did feel hot to touch though. Any idea what could be causing it to become hot?

Probably what ever is blowing the fuse is putting to much current through it - that's why the fuse is there, so that you replace cheap fuses not expensive components.
If you look at my post #97 I suggested removing the wire from fuse F1 so that the wiring to the starter motor and O2 sensor is taken out of action. That is basically what the electrician did. He proved the fault is there, but then didn't go on to find out where!
You'll need to do this. Post #99 then goes on to describe taking just the O2 sensor out of action which will then tell you if its the O2 or starter wiring. Its also possible the wire from fuse F1 to the relay housing has a short. From what others have said though, it is likely to be the O2 wiring.

I will try pulling that wire tomorrow but as you said it will be harf to isolate the o2 wire as there are alot of wires in the relay unit. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Turns out you guys were right. It was the wire from the o2 sensor to the relay unit. It was bare wire looked like it was burnt. Replace the wire and now it is starting up fine. It is even driving better.

Yeh, and you've been moaning since #22 - dunno about OldSkool, maybe OldGit ?
My son has a similar problem with his Rover Tomcat - his decision is to sell it for scrap and buy another car that "works". I've bought him a multimeter, he's still not interested. I've tested the fuses with it to tell him which ones drawing current when the ignition's off, he's still not interested. I think the OP's done bloody well to persevere and sort the problem out. I think that, not your moaning, will inspire him on to get better at maintaining his motor.
I've learnt in this process as well, cos I though that in Liverpool if your car broke, you just nicked another one

You're right old school but to be fair i was getting told loads of different things by loads of different people on different forums and face to face. I should have followed the advise given on here but like i said im not very mechanical so it was very confusing for me. I have learned alot just from this problem and the lads on here that have tried to help so thanks alot.

Doesn't say much for your auto electrician that he couldn't find a bared wire shorting to earth. I would have been like you and tearing hair out but something like that should be easy money for an auto spark.

I know mate they should have fugured out what it was. They charged me £45 to diagnose the problem which they said was the main relay unit. They told me i needed to buy a new one at £80 ++. Going to ring them today for my money back as they diagnosed it wrong. Wont be going there in the future.
+1 on that. It was maybe thought of as an ongoing earner.
Hope you can get some compensation mate. But regardless, its nice the old girl is running ok now.
