spare wheel size

Hi all, i have just bought a freelander 1 td4 02, it has 17 inch wheels, fitted with 225 55 17 tyres but i have noticed the spare wheel is a 16 inch, doing tyre size comparison a 225 60 16 is only 3mm smaller diameter. Do you think this would be ok or should i search for a 17 inch spare?

I'd say try to get the correct wheel and matching tyre for the spare, I don't think I'd want to chance it with the VCU and IRD but in all honesty I'm a complete novice so maybe others will correct me.

ok i will search out a 17inch rim, think theres afew on ebay.

Hi folks
Just reading the thread I know all wheels and tyres should be same size and makes but what happens if you have a puncture if like me my spare is same size and make but is brand new and the ones on the car are about 4_5 mm less in tread. I have a slow puncture and it looses about 2psi per day but I darent put spare on is it safe till I can get to garage

some body may have swopped your wheels as I am sure they should be 16 inch on that year.

Use it to get you to a garage ...I would drop a bit of air pressure out of the new spare to compensate ....just a bit though

ye that wouldnt suprise me either, there isnt a problem running them tho is there?
