Single wipe problem

Hi guys.

My wipers work ok, but nothing happens when I push the lever down - no single wipe. Also nothing happens if I hold the lever down (the wipers should work at high speed). Any idea what to check?

I think it could be the wiper stalk but others on here will know more.

Yes they are working on the switch.

then it is something to do with the switch probably.
either wiring or contacts

I have had my Freelander for almost 4 years and I never knew about the single wipe facility!

Oh what a sheltered life I lead.

I have solved the problem. It was the switch. Took the plastic, surrounding the steering wheel, off so I could unscrew the switch. Took the switch apart (it is very easy) and cleaned it with alcohol. It was all greasy and the contact were oxydized. At the end I cleaned/polished the contacts in the switch with very fine sanding paper. It works perfectlly.
