I have a 2003 Freelander with the becker satnav system. however i am having some problems with it and im hoping someone might know how to fix it! I replaced the roof module as it was not working, and for a while after no problems with the satnav. Recently its stopped working? Set it to take me somewhere but when i check it says it cannot find satellites.

If i remove the interior light and then disconnect the lead to the roof module, then reconnect it back again, it seems to clear the fault and the satnav works?!!?!?!?

Is there something im doing wrong???

most of the satelites we are allowed to use have been recoded in the last month, therefore most of our equipment needs updating with the new receiver codes that have had to be issued by the access providers.

had same prob with mine the arial lead had came out of the back of the radio there sould be 2 pluged in look there .if thats ok then look to replace the arial again it part of the nav and can break

to check your unit perform a system reset - press the TP button and multi button 1 or 3 (the small ones normally used for radio presets) - watch the display closely in the right hand side - if it displays ANT ERROR you probably have a faulty antenna due to leaking around the radio aerial / interior light.

If this is the case don't get a landrover part but get a cheap gps antenna from china via ebay - they were about a fiver when i got mine. These are much more sensitive than the landrover part and as you see on mine it is simply fixed inside the car near the radio and in this position gives a good fix all the time. Obviously if you are really fussy and want the best possible sat reception you should fix it outside the car but I didn't find it was worth the bother of running such cables.
