Safety devices out rack / G4 roof rack

anyone close to wigan got one of these ..........

Would like to meet up to take lots of pics and measurements.....

Fed up of looking for one and fed up of the silly prices but I have to have one so I am going to make one

Out of interest, how much is "too expensive" to you guys? As when I looking into making them sometime last year the feedback I got back on pricing was laughable as to what's realistic!

Nobody will pay more than 200 , but real price have another zero on end

On the other way... G4's are highly limited stuff and that should stay as it is IMO

Money is more important than limited stuff

I'd pay 500 for one ..... I know where there is a genuine one for sale for 700 and was really tempted but can't really justify it....... I'm probably never going to put anything on it ...... Just want one cos I think it makes the freelander look sooooooo good

Used one for £700 is a pretty decent price, would have to make a pretty big batch to do them for £500 each, in fact, I wouldn't even entertain the idea for £500 per rack... as that would obviously have to include vat as well. Once you factor in the amount of tube, the cost of bending, all the plates, brackets, powder coating, then the hours to make it, as well as the jig costs. There's a reason why the proper G4 ones were over £1k new, other than that SD like to make a pretty penny on their stuff!

Could make a cheaper (easier to make) version, but then it wouldn't look like a proper G4 rack

True, but i need to wait for proper buyer with large limit on credit card...

I'll get one one day !!! ...... When I take into account what my hippo is worth.... Just doesn't make sense to spend 700 +on a roof rack .

Eventually..... Probably too late for me .... The prices will drop ..... Freelander 1 s are getting older, people move on... Even enthusiasts so eventually there will be no demand or at least there will be no one willing to pay huge prices for an accessory for such an old low value car ............

Ie, a freelander that's still going.....

It's only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay ........ It's a roof rack not a work of art or something ..... There are probably a lot of people in the world that would pay a few million for a Van Gogh or 20 grand for a Ferrari f40 bonnet, etc but only a handful that would pay 2000 for a roof rack for an old freelander

It's automotive art... worth to pay . Those lines, perfect matched to roof line... awwwhhh ! It looks great, you can just sit and watch at it
If you add few more perfectly shaped and suited addons you got more than just "old freelander"
