Default Roverron - synergy 2

Any one not got one of these should get one now. 30 minutes to fit. What a tremendous difference. Pulls cleanly and sweetly from 1300 right through rev range. So much more responsive and power there when you need it! Throttle reacts instantly with no hesitation or lag at all. I am also running more economically as can hold a higher gear for longer. I have done over 470 miles on this tank and reckon another 40 - 50 before I need to fill up! I am very impressed.
Thanks Ron.

Interesting, I've been humming & hawing about whether or not to get one. What did your insurance company say.

Insurance was due for renewal on the 25th August and 3 yr warranty expires on the 25th September so ideal time for me to enquire about insurance and fit device if I wanted it. Present insurer, Tesco, wanted an extra £60 on my premium AND would shove the excess to £500 instead of the present £200. I shopped around and got the the same cover as I have now (i.e. with £200 excess) for the same as Tesco was going to charge me without the modification. This was through Autotrader. They are aware of the modification and are OK with it. So I fitted the Synergy. QED

Thanks Dean, I'm getting more & more tempted.
Oh by the way, if you haven't fitted an egr bypass yet do it now, well worth it.

EGR by pass? What does that do? The engine is just great as it is now it has the Synergy fitted. What improvement would a by pass do? Sorry to be so thick!

Read up a bit on these and there is a possibility that they can increase fuel consumption and cause it to run unevenly, particularly on tick over. It is just so good right now that I'm not going to tinker any further. Acceleration is tremendous, no smoke and so smooth yet more mpg!
Cheers

I'm a bit surprised about the possible increase in fuel conumption as mine was improved albeit by only 1mpg. Also LRO magazine answered a query from one guy who wrote in asking about benefits & downsides. Their response was no downsides & improved performance and fuel consumption (it was after reading this that I went ahead with mine). Still, if your happy then that's the main thing but keep it in mind for the future if you do get bored & want more. Only costs around £50, is quick & easy to change & if you don't like it, put the old unit back in & sell the bypass on ebay. All the secondhand ones that I've seen still sell for over £40.

Yep, that's the one - it has a small vacuum pipe fitted to the front. The bypass didn't come with any gasket & like you this worried me slightly but when you take the egr off you'll find a large rubber O-Ring set in the manifold. My car had done around 53,000 miles & the seal was like new.
