Hi Davie, It was exactly the same result for me, well worth the £50 & the unit is well engineered. A lot of folks on here think it's a waste of money & all you have to do is disconnect the vacuum pipe, but this only gives a very little improvement. As you've found, fitting the bypass is the way to go.

Davie, you've read my mind. Already have a Mafam fitted & have just received my synergy module this week, so weather permitting I'll fit it this weekend. I'm hoping for a good boost above 3000rpm as low & midrange punch seems good since sorting the maf & egr. My cars an auto & Ron recommends setting 6 as a maximum, so 6 it is & hopefully I'll be pleased with it. Also bought two new intercooler hoses as I've heard they can leak & affect the upper revs before failing completely.

What is the synergy 2 and what does it do? Does it also apply to the L series engine? And if it is applicable to the L series where do you get one? Cheers in advance.

Hi Davie, now got mine fitted & it definitely improves things. Still got the usual narrow diesel powerband, but it has also made some imrovement above 3000rpm. Well pleased. Also replaced my intercooler hoses, old ones were swollen & the clip (the difficult to reach one) on the one at the intercooler was slack.

George, The synergy is a plug in tuning module which plugs in between injector rail & ecu and gives a very useful power increase (about 30bhp on TD4 models) over standard.
The synergy is only for the TD4 engine, but Roverron also does a module for the L-series. Pricewise your looking at around £60 & power increases from standard 98bhp to around 120bhp so well worth fitting. Ron also provides comprehensive fitting instructions & is happy to answer any queries.

The link below is to Roverrons website & although it says TD4 at the top of the page, the first section is devoted to the L-series.
