Hi Guys,

I am new to all of this, so bare with me.

We bought an original ronbox synergy 2 cheap and am looking to fit to a 2006 TD4.

Couple of questions, is the MAF in this ronbox worth changing for the one that is currently being used?

What setting do people recommend using?

Ta

Are you saying you already have a ronbox fitted ?

What exaclty do you mean ? I dont understand the question

do u mean between the bosch or pierburgh maf

u don't have to replace the original one fitted which is a bosch , if a pierburgh one is fitted the synergy box has a maf compensator

did u have a look at there web site

http://synergytuning.co.uk/Synergy/Synergy.htm

on the web site it shows u what settings u can put ur synergy on

u can get a dashboard switch

I've got a 2002 td4 auto

my setting are , power on , maf off and set on number 2

u could get it sent back to ron at synergy who is very helpful and could check it over and update it if required

or email him and he's extremely helpful or give him a ring

Thanks guys.

Sorry I was being dumb on the MAF thing, I kind of thought it was built into the ronbox. I know it isn't now!

It is now in the car, I did it this afternoon.

This is where it gets confusing though, when I connected it, it was on what I think is 10, so max of everything. I drove it and whilst it was a lot quicker, there was a lot more black smoke.

But then I found this in the fitting guide:

Which seems to suggest it is all screwed up. So would have been on 3/4. I then put it to what should be 2 originally and there didn't seem to be much extra power. Help!

Ahh, that makes a lot more sense, thank you.

It will be the original bosch one I think, It's a 56 reg with no mods at all

try it with the maf switch turned off first , see how it drives then try with it on

have u done the usual egr bypass, bmw crankcase conversion , turbo filter etc

the maf switch is used if the original maf is getting a weaker signal and the switch compensates for that

hope that helps abit

if u look on the synergy site there are pdf in more detail about also fitting a dashboard switch

im fitting a switch on mine where it will be out for Eco and max mpg and in for power , if I want a little extra torque for over taking or towing etc

Ok, cool. Thank you. I will turn off the MAF switch.

I have the egr blank to fit, and have changed the turbo filter. I haven't put the BMW cyclone on yet, but I have changed the filter in the current one.

no probs happy to help

if u get stuck please give us a shout and one of us on here will always help

u should notice a difference once the egr bypass is also done

if there is a fault or problem anywhere the synergy will just make it worse

will be good to know what u think

I've got mine fitted in the engine ecu box under the bonnet

Have you had the fuel filter changed in the rear o/s wheel arch?

The fuel pump (in the same place) lasts about 100,000 miles before giving up.

Sorry, only just noticed this.

Not as far as I am aware, though it had been pretty well looked after before we got it, so could have done.

Do I need to change it?
