todays problem, rev counter is allway at 750rpm when car is idle an never goes to 0. Wondering if anyone knows the reason? Thanx in advance all .

And your car/engine is ?

we've got two types of gauge clusters. Old type magnetic (MY'98-00) and new type with stepper motor (from MY'01). So your type will be a useful info...

So, probably a stepper motor problem, it should calibrate to "0" at power on. But if it not goes to zero when off probably something block needle or sth.

I hope he doesn't mean that it sits at 750 ish when engine is running...cos thats, er, normaly, engines don't run when they're at 0rpm... Obviously if he means its stuck then that's a different kettle of fish...

That's how I read it too? Can't be what he means surely, or does he?

Sorry for not being clear guys its a td4 2002 Freelander, when the car is off it goes down to zero but once i start the ignition it sits at about 750. I wasn't too sure if that was normal? If i rev obv it goes up but with my foot off the peddle it sits at about 750.

Cheers guys
