hi all, need a bit of advice, help, tips and hints after smashing the rear window on a freelander...

has anyone replaced a rear window??

is it pretty straight forward or are there a few things i should know before i start??

or should i just bite the bullet and get my local landy garage/glass replacers to sort it out??? i prefer to do all my own spannering as it saves time and money and i'm a hands on kinda bloke, well you have to be with two landy's in the family...

any help would be most gratefully apreciated

:D :D :D :D

If you mean the tailgate window it's an easy job. Take off the trim panel and bring the glass to mid travel. You should be able to see the clamps that hold the glass, one each side. There is one bolt in each clamp which have plastic pads abutting the glass. The glass has marks on to allow it to be positioned correctly in the clamps. Don't forget to disconnect the heated screen wires.

if there's still bits of glass big enough in the clamps, try to note the position of the alignment markings.

fit new glass and recalibrate window, congratulate your self on a job well done.
