Default Rear Door Problem

Afternoon All,

Quick question, we've been having a problem with the rear door on the 2002 Freelander we bought a couple of months back, basically when you shut the door it bounces back open, the latch doesnt catch.

If you mess with the handle you can hear what sounds like a solonoid activate and then you can close the door with no problems. The car has been back to the garage and they allegedly fitted a new handle but the fault is back. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? The car is back in tomorrow and I want to be sure they sort it this time.

Cheers

Jamie

Yeah window operates fine, dropes the inch or so it should.

Its simly the case that the door latch doesnt catch closed, unless you fiddle with the handle and wait of the solonoid/latch mechanism to move?

Sometimes it works fine 1st time, other times you can be messing with it for a couple of minutes before it works!

Take it apart and give the mechanism a clean, wiring too, some wD and then some vasaline over it to stop damp getting to electric. Worked on mine.
