Hi all

Im having problems with my 2002 freelander 1.8. At rest the car rough idles and trying to accelerate joining the motorway or overtaking is a real struggle, tackling hills on motorways is a nightmare to watch your rev and speedo drop to a crawl with foot to the floor. The car also seems unwilling to go past 70 mph. also the hill decent light sometimes comes on and sometimes goes back off. I don’t know if these problems are all related.
I have had the head gasket replaced recently.

Any help would be much appreciated??

coil or one lead or spark plug breaking down [get it on diagnostics] rather than trying this and that :)

Check that plugs are not tracking down the side.
If you remove the upper cover and listen as it ticks over you may hear a sharp "crack" as the spark jumps down the side of the plug
My freeloader had the same type of problems till I changed the coil packs OH ! and a good set of plugs helps
