Default Permanent 4WD?

Are all freelanders permanent 4wd? or are they 2 then switch to 4?

not true 4wd. during normal driving, most of the drive goes to the front wheels. Then when they start to slip, drive is transferred to the rear via the viscous coupling unit. However, this is not switchable, on or off.

But some goes to the back at all times, so permanent 4 wheel drive, but bias to the front on normal roads

Just about, I was just trying to clarify that there is always some power going to the rear so they are permanent 4WD.
