hi all

yet another question ,just going to dl a rave cd but it says dsk1 freelander upto 2001 ,dsk2 freelander 2001 on

what year did freelander change from freelander1 to 2 ???? my car is reg as a 2001 plate but day of first reg 01 01 2002

so is mine a freelander 1 or 2

Yours freelander 1 mate, its only the very latest shape, from about 2006 I think, that is the freelander 2. There are different manuals as they made changes to fl1 through the years, such as td4 engine....facelift model from 2003/4 etc. Surely yours will be 2001 on but prob worth making some checks against your chassis number to be certain.

2001 model year started late 2000 with the introduction of the td4, v6 and auto gearbox. 1.8 k series still available. All with grey bumpers. Some were registered/sold late 2000. All engines before this were 1.8 k series petrol or L series diesel, all with grey bumper.

Bumpers changed to black for the 2002 model year.

Bumpers became colour coded (same colour as paint work) in 2004.

Freelander 1 stopped in 2006 when the Freelander 2 came out.

Download all manuals so you have all of them so you can help others. Also you never know when you may own another.

Loads of stuff changed over the years, like abs units.

Freelander - Model History Menu - Land Rover

Freelander 2 manual in me sig below.

Go by the VIN, up to YA99999 is the 'older', pre update (DSK No 1). Mine's a 2001, '51 reg with a 1A VIN (DSK No 2). There are differences in some parts between the VIN runs.

Do you know where manuals can be downloaded? I got my td5 manual easy but buggered if I can find a td4 one.

There's a number of rave disks available from the link below which covers the repair of several Land Rover products.

http://www.myrangerover.co.uk/MyRangeRover/RAVE.html

rave01 = Range rover P38, Discovery 2, Defender 300tdi/Td5/v8, Freelander 1.8/td4/v6

rave02 = Range Rover P38 and L322, Defender 200/300tdi and v8

rave03 = Range Rover classic tdi/v8, Discovery 1995 onwards mpi/Tdi/v8, Freelander 1.8/L series

The rave disks download as .iso image files. After downloading them you need to use magiciso, 7-zip or winzip type programs to open them, to allow you to copy the rave folder out of the .iso image file.
beat me to it.. - lol

Unless you are running Windows 8 or WIndows 10 - as 8 and 10 will mount the ISO as a new CDROM on your computer.

Electrical architecture of the vehicle changed majorly some time around then too...
Instrumentation went canbus and how the immobiliser and alarm pack interact all changed.
