Default oil leaks and drive shaft

Hi, any lovely people wish to give the benefit of their wisdom please?
What are the common reasons for freelander oil leaks? 2 litre diesel 1998.
Have read thread on dipstick and oil getting stuck in baseplate. What are the odds of it being something sinister?

And... is this nonsense? To remove visous coupling and drive shaft to have the freelander working in two wheel drive only, in order to reduce fuel consumption and save wear and tear? Is it safe?

How do you know if the car is working in four wheel drive?

Ignorance is really NOT bliss!

monkeys lol

They were made by robots, robots applied the gasket sealant on sumps and cam carriers.

What gasket? Might as well painted it with Dulux

Stoopid robots!

Nymphonite, get some pics of where the leak is coming from. Its difficult to assess an oil leak from far away

Plus, get yourself well briefed on the prop shaft removal before setting about the task.
Its straight forward, safe to drive in 2wd, although feels like a car rather than a suv. Some folks don't like Mondo mode, its all about adjusting your driving style.
