Hello to all
I am looking at changing my 10year old freelander and I was wondering what you guys would recommend as a change , have the freelanders become better in terms of general reliability and if so which models would you guys recommend? I would be looking at buying something 2-4 years old.

The Facelifted freelander was improved in a number of ways.
Obviously there are the visual changes to the headlights, front and rear bumpers etc. The interior trim and seats have been improoved. The BMW TD4 engine was used some time ago and is a pretty good engine.
Problem is, all the other mechanicals, IRD, VCU etc are the same and I don't think have been improoved much.
That being said, I have had my 04 Freelander for 2 or 3 years now with no real problems. One or two little issues but nothing worth really talking about.

As for the Freelander 2, sorry I dont have a clue.

Td4 is the best of the FL1s, the IRD was modified & is less prone to failure compared to the earlier FLs.
