I got half way to work this morning the car started jerking and started slowing down then the engine light starts flashing, i pulled over switched the engine off then back on a minute later the light didn't come back on and i drove the rest of the 6 miles to work with car running fine.

When i got to work i scanned the engine and i got the same two error codes i was getting before i cleaned the injectors at the weekend p0301 cylinder 1 missfire, p0313 missfire with low fuel, also i have a pending p0313 low fuel missfire code.

What else could be the problem be, this is what i've done, cleaned the injectors, changed the spark plugs, swapped the coil packs around, changed the two ht leads, the tank is not short of fuel it's 3/4 full.

Im stumped now on what's wrong, i think the problem only occurs when i start going up an hill it starts to stumble, splutter, jerk around abit then starts running again ok within a minute.

I know this is the million dollar question, whats the problem, i'm dreading the drive home in rush hour.

I'll get a new fuel filter and see if that works.

What does FUELSYS 1 OL DRIVE mean i'm getting this flashing between cl, i've never had this before it usually goes between ol to cl.

I'm not sure if it's now safe to drive without doing damage or making things worse.

Has it been run low on fuel recently?

Could have sucked something yukky up from the bottom of the tank ...:(

If you know anyone with a good coil pack try that and get a multimeter on the plug leads, they can breakdown internally ...

Fuel pump ;)

Thanks everyone i'll order a fuel pump.

There are a couple of new after market ones on ebay around the 60 pound mark, the part number of the one on the bay is wfx000130 is this ok for a 02 plate 1.8 k series petrol engine.

Is there any way to remove the locking collar with out the special tool, as anyone made a homemade tool to remove it or a technique to undo it.

My V6 pump is a WFX000190. I've just ordered one.

The pump in mine is the same WFX000190, i took the panel off under the rear seat, i gently tapped the locking collar with a cold chisel and it unscrewed.

Does the WFX000190 have a wfl100160 or wfl000010 fuel filter, i have a funny feeling i've ordered the wrong one.

The filter in mine as VDO 10 007 003 on it.

There are a few different pumps fitted to the Freelander over the years. The earliest pump had 4 flat blades on the connection and WFL100160 filter. Then when the V6 came out A1 to A2 chassis number the pump changed to 4 round pin connection and the filter used was WFL000010.
After chassis A2 the pump changed again. This time the fuel level sensor was reversed. From what I can see, the sensor can be swapped over to read the other way.

Up and running again, it's now pulling and running smoothly.

I'd ordered the WFL100160 fuel filter by mistake, then ordered the WFL000010 for the WFX000190 pump.

With me cleaning the injectors and new fuel filter, plugs and ht leads it's purrrrrrrrring like a kitty.

Thanks everyone
