Lost Key. Please help

Hi all

So I come home to London to visit family for the summer and decide to leave my Freelander in the hands of an irresponsible friend. I get a message today to say this friend ( after a great night out) has managed to lose the keys.

I have contacted 3 Landrover dealerships here in London. They tell me I need the vin number, original log book and v5. Well I can have the vin number, bill of sale and insurance documents faxed to them but I live in the Turks and Caicos , a small island where v5 and log books are a rarity on second hand vehicles.

I have a 2001 v6 3dr freelander soft top stuck outside a nice bar soaking up the Caribbean sun making me look like an alcoholic. Any ideas how I can get a key cut in London before I head back.?

(There is no spare key...the £500 the Turks dealer wanted to charge for a spare isn't looking quite so bad now)

without a key for copying you are a bit lost I am afraid it is going to be log book and all to the dealers ,but make you so called mate pay

Update: I tried 10 different places then managed to get a key ordered with Turks and caicos documents. Thanks for the leads guys. It can be done.

great to know I can tell you how to get into a freelander 1 without the key but that would be of no help without the key to start it.
