Hi all I have a smoking prob with my freelander 2 TD 4 is fine when driven solo. But when towing blowes black smoke when changing up and i mean allot of smoke. Have used it to tow for last 2 years with no problem has only been like this for last few months. Also now on these cold mornings it is very lumpy when idling, it is still good on fuel and has no loss of power any ideas many thanks Dave

Not sure about FL2 but FL1 would be boost leak most likely.

1) split intercooler hose, check and replace as necessary
2) clogged egr valve, remove, check and clean as necessary
3) blocked crankcase breather filter, change it
