Hia folks!

I want to put some more light to the interior of my FL1 , 3 door.

What about changing the interior mirror with one from MGF car. The MGF one have lights and the freelander one seems to be the same.

Does anybody have such a mirror in his car and will this mirror do the job with the lights?

Cheers

why would you want lights on a mirror you have lights in the roof unless I am missing something go for a self dipping mirror miles better

Got one in my MGF!!
Can't see much point in the Freelander as it's so close to the roof light anyway!!
I fitted one onto my ZS as the roof light on those is poor by comparison to that of the Freelander.

My wife's last 2 cars have had auto dipping mirrors. I say auto dipping but they were auto dimming. They are slow and don't dim nearly enough for my liking. I much prefer the proper manual dipping mirror of the Freelander and MG

thks buddy

ive got the usual manual dipping mirror and to be honest does the job

thks about letting me know about the dimming mirros, just wernt sure if they actually existed or not

plus bg have u fitted the led bulbs inside to give u more light

The P38 has an Auto dimming, not Auto dip interior mirror and has a photo cell built in.
I have an Auto dim interior mirror fitted in my 02, TD4 which I picked up from a breakers a few years ago thinking "That will come in handy one day". It came out of an Alfa Romeo.
When my windscreen went on the FL last year, I asked the Autoglass fitter to put that one on instead of the original.
The wiring is a doddle, just three connections...12V+, Negative & Reversing lamp Negative which is optional-it cancels the auto dimming function when reversing at night-I didn't connect it.
The 12V+and Negative were connected to the interior lamp harness and the current draw by the mirror is negligable (Milli Amps).

hi

thks mate for the info

may be a daft question but are the freelander mirrors bonded to the windscreen , so therefore could only be removed and replaced by another mirror by a windscreen specialist

is the discoveries that have the temp display on them as instead of having a separate temp display unit elsewhere can have it on the mirror instead

thks

Hi Gary....Yes they are bonded. When I removed it from the Alfa a thin layer of glass was stuck to the mounting pad !! I managed to chip it away and clean the pad surface with a smooth flat file. The adhesive the windscreen fitter used is super strong stuff, far better than the stuff you get from the usual car spares places.
Not too sure about the temp. display on Disco mirrors but I would think the outside temp. sensor would be interfaced through the Becm (Body Electrical Control Module).

hi

thks for the info, most appreciated

will see if i can find the mirror in question

the only ones i can see at the moment are the auto dim, compass mirrors

think if i cant get it off will get auto glass to do it for me

thks again

I used to have one in a old Cortina in the 70s that how I know about them but must admit I have not seen many since ,and it worked very well.

yikes didnt think they was that much

for ages been looking at some small separate units that sit in the centre console, then just thought by getting a mirror with the temp built in would save some room and also be neater

convinced i saw one fitted in a disco but yet again the old brain may be going south again , lolol

will have a quick check on some of the disco sites to see if i can find one then put the link on here

thks again
