I'm trying to get some 225 55 17 STR's but they seem to be in short supply. All they can get is Scorpion Verde. Anybody else got this problem?

I had 2 str`s fitted two weeks ago,my tyre bloke said that his usual supplier had ran out and had to source another supplier, and they were the last two he had,he put it down to a rush on 4x4 tyres before winter sets in.my d2 has 255-65-16.

yeah ..

and went for michellin latitude's ..
turn out to be much quieter , hold pressure better ..
and are wearing better .. although i did back off the go-pedal ..
especially on curves 'n roundabouts after noticing the scorps rate of wear :)

i think the 'latitudes' are the replacement for the old 'synchrones' ..

I'm just looking at Latitude cross - Is this what you got?

no .. i got the 'tour' ones ..
only as i preferred the tread pattern :)
just before i bought them i checked out what tyres were on the landies at the local dealership .. i think the michelin shod ones had the 'cross' versions
( dealership and tyre shop be almost next door to each other
( and i was in a semi-panic cause i wanted to replace the scorpions with same ..
( not sorry i ended up with the michelins :))

as for the difference between 'tour' and 'cross' ..
apart from tread pattern i ain't sure .. best to refer to michelin's web site for info

Cross are more AT based. Got them on the work truck very nice, would think about puttin a set on the freelander next.

I found a website when I was looking for 17" scorpions before very cheap and plenty of stock I will have I see if I can find it

Thanks Kiz. I will have a look.

Just checking out Asda tyres. Latitude cross at £127 fitted by local Halfords - seems a good deal? Anybody had experience of buying through Asda?

Mine had Goodyear Wrangler 195/80 15s. Bought a couple of replacements, then fairly shortly after went to get another couple to be told they are discontinued - bugger. After that experience, price became more important to me. I've now got GT Radial Maxmilers all round.

Most new LR's have Scorpion Verde's fitted, can't say what they're like though!

Try oponeo or camskill

Got a brand new 215 65 16 scorpion on my spare tyre that I want swapping for a BFG AT if anyone is interested!

I've stuck with the michelin latitude cross. Got them for £120 each fitted from local garage which seems very reasonable (Camskill price £109 + postage). Getting them fitted on Friday. I'll let you know how they perform.

Here you go Kizzieh :biggrin1: - They make the Scorpions on the front look like flip flops:D
