Hi all, My mot is looming and my brake pipes are done but one problem has left me with my head scratching??

When I bought my freelander the rear electric screen has been cable tied up due to the regulator cables snapping, I am not too bothered at the moment but the rear wiper, washer motor and heated screen do not work. I am guessing that it is all linked to the rear window mechanism somehow? Is there a trick to get them all to come to life?? also is the rear 3rd brake light also connected to this circuit? I have checked all the fuses and everthing else on the car works just nothing on the rear door??:confused:

Cheers in advance!

check the plugs inside boot area on right hand side behind plastic trim, if nothing is working i would check this and see if wires have just been cut. may be a replacement rear door ?????

No need to do anything. Think you'll find that rear wash wipe isn't an mot item, or the heated screen. Believe it or not when I was a tester, don't think it's changed, neither is the third brake light! Oddly if the bulbs blown I think it's meant to fail but it can be disconnected so it doesn't work which isn't a fail?!?! Huh!!!! So cos you can't remove anything to check it on an mot, we were told you have to presume its been disconnected for a reason as you can't prove otherwise!?!?
Mot logic for you;)

Thanks for the reply's, I have done some checking and even if I push the window to the top the motor will be in the wrong position to send the signal to the CCU to let the power go to the non working items as the cables are no longer attached to the mechanism. I am going to put it in for the MOT and save my time and money for any other problems that might crop up at the test and then get it sorted after a full service on the engine.

I am using the MOT as a pre-MOT as there is no charge for re-test and I am guessing there will be something else to do before I finally get her on the road

Tis true, my mot guy just asked me to confirm it has never worked..........to which I of course agreed.

Have you looked for broken wires between the door and the body in the ruber tubing .

Yeah first thing I checked mate, it is definitely the window regulator motor not sending the window shut signal to the CCU so will be repairing that as soon as I have the MOT done, Cheers.
