I have a FR2 with 135k on the clock - just serviced and MOT'd without issues. I am now getting a weird noise from the rear like I have a flat tyre but they are fine... had thew tyres balanced three times and they are fine. Noise seems to come from rear wheels - more on the right rear so when the weight is on the left of the car there is keel noise but when on the right it is more pronounced.

Local garage has had the car for a week and still none the wiser - I thought it might be the suspension bushes as they were low but the garage now wants to send it away to a transmission specialist......

Any ideas anyone or can recommended someone who can have a look and advise me....

CONFUSED OF CAMBRIDGE

Forgot to say it is a diesel 2.2TD4 manual

Hi, there's not too many people on here with Freelander2 - so there's not so much help as with the earlier cars.

Funny thing is, lots moan about the VCU on the earlier ones - and they'd all be thankful for a VCU replacement at a couple of hundred quid rather than the though of taking a F2 to the garage with possible Haldex problems!

If you take the car into the garage and they say its the rear diff - I'd take it straight to a LR Dealers and get them to confirm the diagnosis. Then get on the phone to LR customer service and kick up a stink. The rear diffs were poor on the F2 between 2007 and 2010 I believe. Not quite bad enough for a recall (or rather to expensive) but LR recognise the issue and do compensate owners outside of the warranty period.

Sounds like diff to me, as said above, if it is, LR recognise the diff issue (MY11 onwards had a modified diff fitted), and generally pay 100% of the repair cost at a dealer!
