Hi all, my first post here but really need some help. Been working on my dads 2001 freelander td4 replacing the thermostat, which was an absolut nightmare of a job. Anyway after getting it all sorted he took it for a drive to try the heater out which was all very good. He got about 4 miles and as he lifted his foot to change gear the jeep just died. After a while he managed to get it going again and limped back home, had a look and the top pipe going to the intercooler, near the battery, had sucked itself in and near enough closed. Taking this pip off from the intercooler soon got her running well. Looked at it this evening and found the pipe going to the egr had melted through, replaced it and cleaned out the valve, he took it another drive and only got 1/2 mile before it died and the top pipe to the intercooler had sucked in again. Took it off and it drove home no problems. Im thinking i have disturbed something while moving the engine to gvet the thermostat in but cant find any pipes off?? Anybody any ideas of what it might be??

Thanks Brendan.
