Hi i have a 1999 freelander with a philips r770 head unit, iv recently bought a alpine XQE000110MAD cd changer with leads but they don't fit (theyr for a newer freelander C42 head unit) does anyone if and where i can ger a cable to connect it to my head unit? ope someone knows, cheers

As far as I'm aware, the R770 needs either a philips RC026 CD changer or an alpine changer with round din plug.

The one you have bought - does it have a small rectangular black plig on about 4 inches of lead??

Regards,

Steve

That CD changer will not work with your head unit. You can get a lead that fits your head unit, but will not interface with the alpine changer. The early models used XQE100230, XQE100280 and XQE100430 CD changers with round connectors only.Your best bet would be to use the Philips RC026 Changer. Where are you based??Regards,Steve

Im in south wales, ah i should have checked before i bought it  don't suppose i could fit a philips C42 head unit to my freelander could i? because the cd changer is as new condition and has everyfing with it, thanks

I'm sure you could do that - never thought of that option.

i have the philips c42, running the alpine 6 cd, works fine and dandy, the rave installation instructions are top dollar clear too. BUT, you don't need to take the passenger seat out to fit it, as long as you can work blind by feel.
Well pleased with mine

thanks for everyones respones, much apreciated :) so would the C42 head unit work in my 1999 freelander with the origional factory wiring loom? and would the display work, because the r770 works off the clock display! if it will fit im goin to buy one cos this problem with this cd changer has been a right pain and iv had it lyin around for 3 weeks now :( Thanks!

Does anyone know if any of the freelander autochangers are "IP bus" compatible?

I've just bought a Pioneer DEH-P65BT head unit so I can use the bluetooth handsfree functionality on it.

Just wondering if I can bodge a changer (possibly even the one I've got now, not sure of the make but it's from a 2002 ES) on to it so I don't need to rip all my CDs to MP3 format.

The Philips ones are D2B compatible - this means that using a different lead you can connect to Grundig, Philips, VDO, Alpine (Some) Head Units. Cant help you with IP bus part im afraid.

No worries if it doesn't fit... will just bang it on Ebay!

A few winter's evenings putting my CD collection onto CDs as MP3s beckons...

I have the philips RC026 CD changer - will do you a straight swap if interested?

not sure if the c42 is compatible with the earlier loom. The C42 has its own display, and does not use the clock display at all. I would guess the earlier version would derive clock time from the radio. Best way of checking is to pop the old radio out (check you've got the code) then turn the ignition on and see what the clock does

I want to put in a new head unit but retain my existing factory CD changer. My FL is a 2003 model, does anyone have any thoughts on what make head units are compatible?

Cheers

Rog
