As usual with these things - if someone has done the mod - and it works - they rarely come back with "fantastic mod - must do it". The absence of replies might mean either it works or no-one has tried. How about you making the first reply?

maybe MHM was just seeing if you had looked on this site before posting an external link?

hi methos . . . .yes the mod works just fine a vast improvement , but the td4's did not suffer the same. . . . . :)

Ok got the pipe and and made up the stoppers/bungs today, all fitted, bled etc... heater effect...a bit meh at best really....

Do you think maybe theres something up with my matrix, or is it just a hippo has crappy heating period...

On me Golf, and most other cars I've owned/driven you could cook food if you turned it up full...

Pipes going into and coming from the matrix are nice and hot so gotta be something wrong with the matrix core you think ?

Methos.

The early freelanders were especially crap wi the heaters, so i would say that is the problem..if ya want you could give the whole system a flush through..might help..keep us informed , as i have been thinking of giving this a go..

I gave the whole system a flush out this morning refilled and bled it again, still the same meh heat as before, water is flowing nicely so don't think its an air lock etc, but that its just as you said and the heaters are crap, ours is a 2000 Xdi 20TD

Guess its gloves and thermal socks instead :)

I always thought the heater on ours were effective. Certainly didn;t notice any difference between the TD4 and the L-series. I remember going off roading with a bunch of Defenders when there was ice on the puddles... THey were all wrapped up in hats, scarves and down jackets, we were in t-shirts!

Untill the missus took ours through a fair flood and put the wave up onto the windscreen. The n/s heater air intake would have taken on board quite a lot of water and since then it's been rather poor! was hoping it might sort it self out over the last year, but looking as if we need to give it a bit of TLC!

Cheers
