Hi Everyone,

On my 2003 TD4 GS Freelander does anyone know why the engine note changes whilst ticking over when you turn the heater over towards max (red) on the blue/red heater control ?

Its seems like its pulling extra current like when you turn headlights on and you hear the engine note change.

It says in manual that some models are fitted with a ceramic heater - what is this ?

Many thanks

Sounds normal, The alternator is normally churning out 90amps,

Any auxillary device whether belt driven or electrical will draw power from the alternator, aircon just drains power from engine full stop due to friction from another belt.

Not sure about the ceramic heater, normally its a metal matrix where heat exchange is via small radiator fins of some description

the ceramic heater is an electrical heater that kick in afore yer engine gits hot, when yer engine air is at er set temperature it auto cuts out . . .clever design. . .:) :) :)
