hi

had to send my hawkeye back as it kept coming up with comms error

after a week or two they got back to me with an update

they think the software in my unit had a glitch in it causing the error

there upgrading it to version 7 and now doing further testing

they've advised me if the error codes keep coming up they are going to replace mine with a new unit as for some reason mine keeps throwing up connection errors and can't get into the security section

they've got a couple of freelamders on site and said my unit kept showing errors so at least that proves my diagnostic plug is ok

admit the company has been fantastic , giving me progress reports and will hopefully have it back in the next fortnight

best of all its all free of charge, so may end up with a new unit , leads etc

will be interesting to see what the new version includes

just wished to advise guys about the version 7 that is now available for the freelanders

if anyone is interested will repost back in how it differs from the old version 5 i had on the unit

Hi

That's strange, I did ensure and asked them a few times in what version it will come back with and they assured me it would be version 7

Mines a 2002 so a FL 1

Will indeed report back once I have the unit back in my possesion

Sorry I meant any extra items that can be checked/diagnosed on the Freelander are for the Freelander 2. Your Hawkeye will still be upgraded to version 7. Sorry for any confusion I caused

I bought mine from bearmach in kent, there made by the company omitec

there are quite a few companies that sell them, if u do a search for hawkeye will list the companies that sell them

I also bought the dongle adapter as u need that for a couple of the menus, think one of the. was for security

great bit of kit and also nice to know it's accurate and gives out the correct information

Has the newer v7 software improved the auto gearbox computer access? Mine fails to get in some times. If I go in as normal but leave a longer time between key presses it's more likely to go in ok.

the v7 is slower when u press buttons but doesn't come up with errors

however u can only use the adaptor on the abs and security as intended , so on the other sections u just remove it and works a lot better

in the engine section has the following

engine roughness test
fuel system test

in the fuel system menu it had

fuel system comp

when I ran the engine the following came up

cyl 1 0.1 mm 3
cyl 2 0.1 mm 3
cyl 3 1.1 mm 3
cyl 4 minus 1.9 mm 3

this was on idle, if u Rev the engine all go to zero

dont know if this a leak by test

also the engine roughness , show each cylinders rpm

gearbox section

engine torque 9.77 percent at 776 rpm

line p on duty rat
98.83 percent

24 brake p on duty
98.83 percent

security section

live data
cm data
key programming
synchronise ecu

abs

got a dtc error

5dc0

rear right sensor electrical fault , can instr4 status error

I've cleared the dtcs as ive had a new battery on the car and will retest in a months time

when I redone the dtcs straight away nothing came up but will see what happens in time

as I do further tests will put it up here

hope this helps

Excellent thank you for the reply hopefully if I hint enough I may get one in the xmas stocking :D

still been trying to find out what this engine comp means,

readings in mm3

any ideas plse ?????

thks for the link, looks like the haweye now then gives the injector wear rates,

don't know if it's the same as a leak back test????

on the other menu it gives the engine roughness so I would assume from that I can now see how each injector is performing according to how smooth each cylinder is

but I dropped a clanger as I didn't turn off my synergy box, as I can then get a comparrison in how much the box is compensating

will have to see what the criteria is that is set for the td4 engine

im terriable as i like to know the ins and outs of how things work ,

will of course report back as i do the tests

the codebreaker book I've ordered should be with me on the 17 th dec 14, sounds sad but thought I would treat myself
