Hi all
Does anybody have the Hawkeye codebreaker book as I have the fault code 5E12 showing on my Hawkeye and I cant find any reference to it anywhere. So if some kind person with the codebraker book could look it up for me I will be forever in there debt.:)

Many thanks
George

Which module/computer?

Hawkeye has an option in the main menu for you to type in the codes using arrows to change the characters.

Hi Hippo
It's an HDC/TC fault and I've tried looking up the code by changing the characters but no joy, however I will try again as I must be missing something out.

His profiles says "Freelander 1.8 petrol 2003" but these don't always get updated.

It's CAN interface EGS timeout.

I assume you have the Orange HDC Light on?

If so check the throttle cable setting and the throttle position switch.

Also check the first gear and reverse gear switch are working. You can monitor this via the Hawkeye

I just checked my hawkeye (v5 software) and it won't allow a 5 at the start of the number section. I would have hoped it would have given a text description on the same page as the code.

funny enough I've just bought a codebreaker book, abig risk at 40 quid ut suppose to be avery in depth explanation of the codes

fingers crossed its not rubbish

once I get it will have a look at the code for u

Hi gstuart
Thanks mate for the offer. I must admit I was looking at buying one however at the price of £52 from my local Bearmach supplier has put me off for now. Will you let me know if it's worth the money and it's as in depth with the explanation of the fault codes and in a way ( ie not mechanic speak) so simple minded folk like me can understand.
Many thanks
George

Hi all.
Just a quick update, I have replaced the throttle position sensor and checked the throttle cable setting and now the throttle response is a lot better as I had always thought it was a bit sluggish, the throttle position switch is on order and will be fitted over xmas ( thank you td4van for the advice). I also cleared the fault codes (5e12 & 5e16) with the Hawkeye and so far so good. After seeing the picture posted of the codebraker book posted on here I have just bought one so, if anybody needs a fault code explained give me a call.
Many thanks for the help and I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas

glad ur getting somewhere and resolving issues

must admit I bought the hawkeye as like modern cars easier with a code reader

dread to think how many electronics are in the new discovery sport etc and the reliability of them

time will tell I suppose

Just out of interest I struggled with this code some time ago (fixed now) and wondered what the new books says about it.

Code P1672

Hi mate

had a quick look and it's not in there

goes p0 then p2 then p3

that's a good start , lol

see it's an immobilser fault according to goodle, plus the hawkeye version 7 now has a re sync to ecu facility along with reprogramming fobs

Shame the codes missing. Version 5 has the re-sync and fob programming option too. It programmed me new fob but it lost sync. We don't know why this happened as it shouldn't. The re-sync option (synchronise the immobiliser computer to the engine computer - they share a rolling code) didn't work. So I hired a truck to carry it to the main dealer where I booked it in. We blocked the car park causing kayos when it was being unloaded. They couldn't get vehicle to the garage or storage car park round the back. Staff coming out to see what was going on until I was recognised. Well they did fek me over when the auto was replaced...

didn't realise that v5 also had the ecu resync , the v7 does seem to be a lot more stable and does t come up with com error anymore, only thing is u have to take the adaptor off when not in use

pleased u got ur hippo sorted out in the end and gave the dealers hell, lol

wonder if debs in norfolk ever got her hippo fixed when she lost her keys

I assume a hawkeye would now reprogram a new key and fob , can't belive how much she was being told by the dealers including buying a new main ecu etc

always nice when faults that get fixed are reported back and shared, that's why when I've been helped always came back like so many others do and share with everyone else

would defentely have another freelander but would go for the 5 door, so easier to get the dogs in and out, but do like the disco 4 , but out of my league, i do wonder how they compare in driving between a disco 4 and a freelander 2 ,

The adapter is only required for certain menu options. So it needs removed when yer not in those menu options. I think it changes the wired connection as some of the computers talk differently. v7 is stable on mine too.

I think you only need a new ecu if yer used all 10 key options or it won't reprogram.
