Hi I have just had a new clutch and dual mass flywheel fitted last week with a new slave/thrust cylinder all good quality parts - luk flywheel borg & beck clutch. The clutch pedal is near the floor and sometimes it is difficult to engage and change gear It feels very notchy I am told this is normal Anyone shed any light on this please I took it back to the garage as I thought the hydraulic clutch might need bleeding again but was told it is fine. When it was on the lift they noticed that there was a bit of play in the gear linkage bushes/joints. Thanks

It shouldn't be at the floor.

I did my clutch this week and mine was at the floor afterwards, I bled it a couple of times and pumped the pedal a lot and it eventually came to about half way.

Check the push fit connection between the master and slave cylinders.
I've been bleeding mine loads recently and have now noticed a slight weep at the connection. Will try clearing out anything inside with compressed air and replacing the rubber o-ring before I strip the gearbox again and change the slave cylinder.

Hi adamskim, take a look at Major clutch problems from duncanpage4 this has been covered there. The one conclusion I have draw from the hydraulics on these clutch systems is that there is a design fault where air gets trapped and is very reluctant to clear hence the very low pedal that so many people report suffering from. This is sometimes not a quick 2 minute bleeding job as it always was years ago.
