Gear oil drip from prop shaft to dif connection?

I am pulling prop shaft to run mondo and I pulled the four bolts connecting rear prop flange to input flange of rear diff, and now I have gear oil dripping from union of flanges. What? How could there be gear oil there??

its more than likely run up pinion thread ,pinion has a collapsible spacer so dont undo bolt/nut unless you know what your doing,undo ird end before unbolting carrier bearings front cv gaiter is easily damaged

Well I pulled the drive shaft and the total oil was about 10ml. No more came out and the vsc is very tight! It drives great now.

How could oil work its way up there?
