Hi people.

Just bought Freelander XEI 1999 3D Softback. All fine except this.
When you open the door, window is supposed to lower by inch (or ~20mm) as reviews say. But it barely drops a 2mm. But it is enough to open the rear door.
When I close the door, window lays over the edges of the soft cover because it did was not lowered enough. And after door being shut, it raises the same small 2mm, making the top edge of the window not entering into its place, but laying at the car. This makes large holes betweed glass and the car.
And when you turn your ignition to II, strange noise appears first from the rear area - as if some motor runs - rear window do not move.
All other modes are OK - you can lower and close the window - if you close it from the lower position - it fits as designed - being under all covers.
Please, advise!

can you lower the window all the way down once you have put the ignition on? if you can and there are no wierd noises coming from the rear then all the cogs and gears must all still have their teeth and therefor it's just a calibration problem, i would go to my local Land Rover dealer and just ask one of the fella's if there is a simple way to solve the problem yourself, i have saved loads by just describing my problem and sorting it myself, well worth a try

Hi.

Thanks for advices. I just thought maybe someone had faced this problem. OK, will go to some dealer and ask.

By the way - how to remove back door panel, to see the guts of this mechanism ? Googled with no luck.

four screws underneath door pocket, then P U L L ! (gently, held on with plastic trim clips)

might want to do a search on "free rave CD download" on this forum, then you'll have a full set of instructions

Could be useful:

Trim casing - tail door(s) - each

Workshop Manual 76.34.10 (from RAVE CD)

Remove
1. Remove 4 screws securing bottom of trim
casing to door.
2. Release 8 clips securing sides and bottom of
casing.
3. Release 5 clips securing top of casing and
remove casing.
4. Remove 8 trim studs from casing.

Refit
1. Fit trim studs to casing.
2. Position casing and secure top clips.
3. Secure clips on sides and bottom of casing.
4. Fit screws to bottom of casing.

Hi.

Studied the wiring diagrams. CCU comtrols the rear window relying on the position information, obtained from rear window motor's sensor.

Most probably it should be fixed by SW. Does RAVE CD contain proper SW? and where to get (or how to make) a proper cable?

I wonder if I can re-open this thread.. My van is doing the same, lowering by about 3 mm, but you can pull the window down with you hand another inch.. when you shut the door it will raise up, but still the 3 mm lower.
It is as if the cables have play in them. Is there any adjustments I can make?
I have done the calibrating procedure.
thanks in advance
