From the look of the pic a V8 could slot nicely into a freelander engine bay, with few mods on mounting points perhaps?

come on LR - yu know we have discussed this before!

a V8 is in-line - not transverse - so it would mean ripping up the tunnel, replacing all the suspension and brakes etc - let alone gearbox n stuff.

I know but I can dream..... nothing as sweet as the bass note of a V8

Just have it rear wheel drive then, run a prop to rear diff... sorted

The only way seems to fit a hippoo body onto a lr chassis - well modified!

Too much like hard work - go fur a Mondeo special - it wud be cheaper

Already mentioned the Gallaway rear disc brakes for the FL. They were NAS aftermarket/spec

my point woz - get a hippoo - chuck away suspension, drive train, braking system - reinforce chassis - to have a 2wd tank that cartwheels at first corner

sounds like fun

i still reckon a 2wd 350bhp T series lump with the rear drive removed up to drive shaft cv's would be lighter and betta - maybe wudnt sound so nice - but would be easier, cheaper - and more "original looking" sittin next to ya at the traffic lights

Anything over 200horses will just give massive understeer on a front wheel drive hippo.

When stationary at the traffic lights on a wet road you could stick it 3rd or 4th and it would still spin the wheels

its not often yu get complaints of torque steer on a hippoo
