Post Freelander Freestyle 06 Running bars / side Installation steps

Hi All, I am total newby so please treat me gently! I also no sweet FA about anything mechanical - but keen to learn and DIY where I can!

Anyway, just bought some side steps / running bars. Black metal, wider at one end thatn the other, they came with the brackets .... been quoted £40 to get them fitted ... then thought I may be able to DIY!!

Understand that I need to check for the holes in the chassis? Could be covered by tape etc. Can anyone confirm that the holes will definitely be there please!?

My other concern is about the fixings and whether a novice should be doing this?

Also if you have to use Rivnuts and get a special tool or is their an alternative?

I have attached photo of what I have bought if that helps.

See told you I was a newby - appreciate any guidance / info / hep you can offer.

Cheers Paul

Yes, the holes in the chassis will be there. Yes, you will need to buy a Rivnut tool.

If you think you will have a use in the future for fitting more rivnuts, then buy the tool and DIY it. If not, £40 is a good price to have them fitted

hi

pm me your email and ill forward the land rover instructions I received the other day when i bought some side steps myself. Got to admit fitting the side steps were easy, getting the rivnuts in caused me a headache tho and I asked my father in law to do it.

You can put the rivnuts in using a spanner and a socket.

having fitted steps to a free lander, without the tool it is a git-problem is compressing the rivet as you try to tighten it

Having the tool makes it easy.

If you diy then hold bolt steady and tighen nut as otherwise lot spins
