Agreed, we need to be more specific, I just bought a G4 Freelander here in California, KV6 engine, (02, 30 k miles, on its second tranny, very very cheap 1 lady owner, and I need to know how to keep it running as I really want to do some desert trips. I fancy the EMS 1 digital gauge from Madman that should allow me to monitor coolant level, coolant temp, engine temp and oil pressure.
Digital Car Gauges - Madman Automotive Products. Is it necessary to measure tranny tmp also? I think the HGF is known (liner movement and fretting) but does anybody know what is the major failure mechanism of the JATCO tranny?
I have already ordered a spare thermostat and housing, does anybody else know of anything I can do to ensure the longevity of this engine and tranny?
I want to try and show that this can be a reliable engine and that this is another case of British engineering, brilliant in conception but let down at the last hurdle by poor implementation.
